What cookies do

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser for a website. Related technologies, such as local storage, can also retain information on a device. Some uses are needed to provide a requested service; optional analytics and advertising uses generally require consent under applicable rules.

What this site’s features use

The editorial pages, navigation, FAQ disclosures and scroll animations do not require tracking cookies. The site’s own JavaScript does not install analytics, advertising identifiers or a local-storage draft of your production note.

The contact builder processes your entries in memory while the page is open. Copying uses the Clipboard API when available, and downloading creates a text file on your device. Neither action is a cookie, and neither sends the note to us. Your browser may retain its own cache, history or form information according to your settings.

Cookie preferences

The editorial features described above do not need optional cookies to work. Where a site-level consent control is displayed, use its preference options to accept optional storage or keep essential storage only. Withdrawing optional consent should be as easy as giving it.

You can also inspect, block or delete cookies and site data in your browser’s privacy settings. Clearing site data can remove saved consent choices and may cause a consent control to ask again. Browser settings do not necessarily remove text already copied to the clipboard or files you have downloaded.

External websites and service operation

Following a source link or opening an email application takes you to a separate service with its own practices. Local article images do not require an embedded third-party photo service. Hosting security and server logs are separate from browser cookies; see our privacy notice for connection information.
